1. Are firearms allowed in the Ellis County Courthouse?

Persons open and/or conceal carrying firearms are not allowed entry in to the courthouse and will be encouraged to secure the weapon safely before entering the building.

2. Are cellular phones allowed in the Ellis County Courthouse?

Cell phones are not permitted past the security check point. Lockers are provided for secure keeping while in the building. Exemptions upon approval of the court.

4. Are children allowed in the courthouse?

Courthouse settings and situations are stressful for children. Attendance in court hearings is left to the discretion of the presiding case judge.

5. Are service animals allowed in the Ellis County Courthouse?

Service animals that are individually trained to work or perform tasks for persons with disabilities are allowed in to the building. Service animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered unless doing so interferes with the service animals' work or the individuals' disability prevents the use of such devices. Emotional support dogs are only admitted per prior approval of the presiding case judge discretion.
