School Districts
Ellis County affords access to learning opportunities for students of all ages. Three public school districts serve Ellis County students in kindergarten through 12th grade:
  • USD 388 is located in the City of Ellis and serves approximately 400 students in two attendance centers.
  • USD 432 has three attendance centers and serves the community of Victoria.
  • USD 489, which encompasses a 380-square-mile area of Ellis County, has 3,400 students enrolled in one high school, two middle schools, six elementary schools, and one alternative school.
Three private K-12 schools are also available to residents.

Higher Learning
Ellis County is enriched by the presence of two institutions of higher learning. The North Central Kansas Technical College offers vocational training in mechanical trades, nursing, auto technology, and business management and technology.

Fort Hays State University has approximately 10,000 students and offers hundreds of programs from associate through master's degrees in 28 academic departments. The university has earned a national reputation for its quality distance learning programs - more than half of its students are enrolled in online coursework.
